Hello,
I am Jignesh Makwana.
I am an electrical engineer, not a developer or programmer.
I was introduced to ANN in the outstanding lecture of Prof. G.N Pillai sir, during my Ph.D. course work at IIT Roorkee in 2009. It had an early impact on me and sparked my interest in the topic.
I was not working on AI techniques, but I found it more interesting and beneficial for the problem I was trying to solve called sensorless control of the Switched Reluctance Motor Drive,
During my Phd work I developed an ANN to accurately estimate the rotor angle from phase voltage and phase current of the motor, and I published a research article on the topic in 2011 at IEEE Xplore titled "ANN Based Sensorless Rotor Position Estimation for the Switched Reluctance Motor". After that I implemented the same algorithm on FPGA based hardware and successfully ran the motor.
I want the new researchers to know that whether we are using AI techniques or not, we should have at least a basic understanding of AI techniques like Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic.
Even if you come to the conclusion that AI techniques are not suitable in solving your problem, then also I will call it a great finding.
That’s why I am emphasizing learning the fundamentals of AI techniques.
I also learnt Fuzzy Logic during the same period and replaced the PID controller with Fuzzy Logic to improve the performance of the SRM drive.
Thousands of students benefited from my course “Fuzzy Logic: Quick Start Guide” which I published in March 2019.
After getting lots of requests for the course on machine learning, I announced the course “Fundamentals of Artificial Neural Network” 7 months back and after a long run, I finally completed it.
The Idea was to make it easy-to-understand, and more interesting.
I have prepared the contents and flow of the course such that one can easily understand what an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is, how it works, and what are the possible applications.
This course starts with Introduction to ANN and its capability of solving different types of problems.
Then starting from the basic model of one neuron wisely it will educate you about the mesh of the neurons called network and ways to train the network call learning algorithm.
You will learn MATLAB to develop and implement ANN with programing, simulation as well as ready to run apps.
At the end of this course, you will be able to design ANN for a given problem of classification or regression.
Go checkout the details.
I also ask that you share your experience about AI techniques to inspire new students.
Thank you.
